Georgakopoulos-Soares Lab

Decoding cancer genomics through computational biology

About Our Lab

The Georgakopoulos-Soares Laboratory is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the genomic and molecular mechanisms that drive cancer evolution. By integrating large-scale sequencing data, computational modeling, and AI-driven analytics, the lab develops novel approaches to dissect the mutational signatures that shape cancer genomes and influence tumor progression.

Our research combines bioinformatics, systems biology, and data visualization to explore how genomic instability, replication stress, and DNA repair pathways interact across different cancer types. Through this multi-layered perspective, we aim to reveal hidden patterns within the genome that can inform the development of more precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Beyond fundamental research, the lab is committed to building open-source tools and resources for the scientific community. By fostering collaboration, transparency, and data accessibility, we strive to accelerate discoveries in cancer genomics and empower researchers worldwide to translate genomic insights into clinical impact.
